Product Description The Thermoelectric Peltier Refrigeration Cooling System DIY Kit is a high-performance solid-state cooling solution designed for small-space air conditioning and electronic component cooling. Utilizing the powerful TEC1-12706 Peltier module, this kit functions by creating a significant temperature differential across its ceramic plates when 12V DC is applied. The assembly includes a large primary heat sink and a 90mm fan to dissipate heat from the "hot side," while a smaller heat sink and dedicated 40mm fan efficiently circulate chilled air from the "cold side." This pre-assembled kit is perfect for DIY pet house coolers, mini-refrigerators, medical insulin coolers, and laser diode temperature stabilization.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • 9V Battery Use: Do not use a 9V battery. A standard 9V battery cannot provide the 5A to 6A current required. The Peltier will not cool and the battery will overheat. Use a 12V 10A DC Power Supply or a Car Battery.

  • 18650 Cell: You must use at least three 18650 cells in series (3S configuration). However, since the current draw is high, you need at least 3 strings in parallel (3S3P) with high-discharge cells (10A+ rating) and a 20A BMS.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: For temperature control, use an STC-1000 Temperature Controller or an Arduino with a DS18B20 Sensor and a 30A Relay. Add a 4700uF 25V Capacitor across the 12V input to smooth out current spikes when the Peltier cycles on/off.
