Product Description

The Ultrasonic Atomiser Module is built around a specialized driver circuit and a piezoelectric ceramic disc. Unlike traditional heat-based evaporators, this ultrasonic method is safer and more energy-efficient, producing a "cool mist" that does not alter the ambient temperature. The driver board includes an integrated timing function and a status LED. The transducer plate features thousands of laser-drilled micro-holes, ensuring a consistent and ultra-fine mist spray that can easily be absorbed into the air or directed through a small vent.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • Wick Positioning: For the mist maker to start, the bottom of the transducer disc must be in contact with water. We recommend using a cotton swab or wick to draw water up to the disc surface rather than submerging the entire assembly.

  • The "Mist Face" Rule: The transducer disc has a front and a back. The side with the white ceramic/mesh center should face upwards (where the mist comes out), while the metal side should be in contact with the wet wick.

  • Cleaning the Mesh: If the mist output decreases over time, do not poke the micro-holes with a needle. Instead, use a cotton bud dipped in distilled white vinegar to gently wipe the surface and dissolve any calcium or mineral deposits.

  • Automation Tip: You can bypass the physical push button by soldering a jumper across the switch pads or using a transistor/MOSFET to trigger the "On" state via an Arduino or ESP32 for smart-home integration.
