Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

• The Propeller Sweet Spot: CRITICAL: For a 3S LiPo setup, the 10x4.5 Propeller is the gold standard for this motor. Using a significantly smaller propeller (like 6-inch) will result in very poor lift, while a larger 12-inch propeller will cause the motor to draw excessive current and potentially burn the windings.

• Direction of Rotation: To reverse the spinning direction, simply swap any two of the three bullet connector wires between the motor and the ESC. Do not attempt to reverse polarity at the battery-to-ESC connection, as this will destroy the ESC.

• Tightening the Propeller: When using the included collet-type adapter, ensure it is tightened firmly. A loose adapter can cause the propeller to fly off mid-flight. Check the tightness after the first 2-3 minutes of flight, as the aluminum parts can settle.

• Mounting Safety: Ensure the mounting screws are not too long. If a screw penetrates too deep into the motor, it can touch and short-circuit the copper stator windings. Always leave at least a 2mm gap between the screw tip and the internal coils.

• Initial Setup: Before your first flight, perform a "Vibration Check" by running the motor (without a propeller) at low throttle. If you feel significant shaking, check if the motor shaft is bent or if the mounting screws are loose.
