It combines an IR transmitter and receiver in a single cylindrical M18 housing, functioning on the principle of diffuse reflection. This sensor provides a digital NPN output that triggers whenever an object enters its detection field. Its most powerful feature is the integrated multi-turn potentiometer located at the rear, allowing users to precisely calibrate the sensing distance from 3cm up to 80cm. Durable, easy to mount, and highly resistant to ambient light interference, it is the standard choice for automated production lines, sumo robots, and intelligent car projects.

  • 18650 Cell: For mobile robotics, use a single 18650 cell with a 5V Boost Converter. Ensure the boost converter can handle at least 200mA to avoid voltage drops when the sensor triggers.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: Since the sensor can draw up to 100mA, add a 470uF electrolytic capacitor across the power rails to prevent "brown-out" resets of your Arduino. If using with a 3.3V MCU like ESP32, use a 10k and 20k resistor divider on the black signal wire to step down the output.
