Product Description
The 8050 (often labeled S8050) is a high-current, low-voltage NPN epitaxial silicon transistor. While standard small-signal transistors like the BC547 are limited to 100mA, the S8050 is designed to handle a much higher continuous collector current (up to 700mA in some batches). This makes it the "go-to" transistor for driving small DC motors, solenoids, high-brightness LED arrays, and relay coils that exceed the capacity of standard signal transistors. Housed in the widely used TO-92 package, it is a versatile component for switching and amplification in consumer electronics, toys, and DIY robotic projects.
Key Features
High Current Handling: Supports up to 700mA, allowing it to bridge the gap between small signal and medium power transistors.
Low Saturation Voltage: Ensures efficient switching with minimal heat generation when the transistor is fully "ON."
High Gain ($h_{FE}$): Provides a high amplification factor, enabling low-power microcontrollers to switch significant loads.
Complementary Pair: Specifically designed to be used alongside the S8550 (PNP) for balanced push-pull amplifier circuits.
Broad Application Range: Suitable for Class B amplifiers, motor drivers, and logic-level switching.
