The 40-Pin Male-to-Female Jumper Set is supplied as a single, wide ribbon cable that can be easily peeled into individual wires or smaller functional groups. This flexibility allows you to keep a 4-wire strip together for I2C communication or an 8-wire strip for a parallel LCD interface, significantly reducing wiring "spaghetti." The molded tips are designed for a tight friction fit, ensuring that your connections stay secure even if the project is moved or vibrates.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • Breadboard Extension: Plug the male end into your breadboard and the female end into your sensor module. This allows you to mount the sensor on the outside of your project enclosure while the main circuit remains protected inside.

  • Maintaining Tension: If a female socket feels slightly loose on a male pin, use a small needle to gently press the silver metal locking tab on the side of the plastic housing. This tightens the internal leaf spring for a more reliable connection.

  • SPI Wiring Tip: For SPI devices (MISO, MOSI, SCK, CS), peel off a 4-wire or 6-wire section. Keeping them as a flat ribbon reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) between the high-speed clock and data lines compared to loose, tangled wires.

  • Check Your Crimps: If a specific wire isn't working, check the joint where the wire enters the plastic housing. A firm tug will tell you if the internal crimp is secure.
