Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears
The "One-Turn" Rule: For Cat6 cables, avoid spinning the tool more than 1 or 2 times. Excessive rotation can cause the blade to dig too deep and damage the internal plastic spline or the insulation of the copper pairs, leading to crosstalk issues.
Tension Control: Use your index finger in the loop to apply slight downward pressure while rotating. If the jacket is thick, press down gently; for thin phone lines, let the tool's natural spring tension do the work.
Emergency Punch-down: The notched tip at the end is great for quick testing, but for permanent high-density patch panel installations, always use a professional impact punch-down tool to ensure a gas-tight IDC connection.

This tool is designed for copper data and telephone cables only. Do not use it on steel-reinforced cables or thick AC power lines, as this will dull or chip the high-carbon steel blade. Always verify that no live current is flowing through the cable before cutting or stripping.
