  • Voltage Difference: A rechargeable "9V" Ni-MH battery actually consists of 7 cells in series, giving it a nominal voltage of 8.4V. While most 9V devices work perfectly with this, some sensitive precision instruments may report a "low battery" sooner than they would with a 9.5V fresh alkaline.
