  • 9V Battery Use: This module is powered exclusively by the USB port. Never connect a 9V battery to the 5V or 3.3V pins, as this will back-feed the USB port and permanently damage both the PL2303 chip and your computer's motherboard.

  • 18650 Cell: When debugging a project powered by an 18650 cell, ensure the GND of the PL2303 is connected to the GND of your battery. However, do not connect the 5V/3.3V pins of the adapter to the battery rail if the USB is plugged in.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: If you experience "frame errors" or garbled text in your serial monitor, add a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor between the VCC and GND of your microcontroller. Ensure the TX of the adapter goes to the RX of the MCU, and RX goes to TX.
