Prototyping & Engineering Tips (Robogears Exclusive)

• Magnet Polarity Matters: At our Pimpri workshop, we always remind users that Hall sensors are often polarity-sensitive. If the sensor isn't triggering, try flipping the magnet over; one side (North or South) will trigger the sensor while the other may not.

• RPM Measurement: To build a tachometer, mount a small neodymium magnet to a rotating wheel or gear. Use an interrupt-driven function in your Arduino code to count how many times the signal drops to LOW per second.

• Analog vs. Digital: Use the DO pin for simple "on/off" tasks like a door sensor. Use the AO pin if you need to determine how close the magnet is to the sensor, as the voltage will change based on the proximity.

• Magnetic Shielding: Avoid placing the sensor near large motors or high-current wires, as the electromagnetic interference (EMI) can cause "ghost triggers."
