Product Description & Technical Details

Product Description

The Wick-Type Ultrasonic Atomiser Kit is a complete electronic mist-generation system designed for applications where the water source is below the sensor. Unlike standard mist makers that must be submerged, this version utilises a high-density cotton wick to "pull" water up to the atomising film via capillary action. This makes it ideal for the Robogears team's projects like humidity-controlled incubators, "smart" plant vases, and compact desktop humidifiers. The 108kHz vibration frequency ensures the mist is cold and safe for living environments.

Key Highlights

  • Stable Capillary Delivery: The included high-absorbency wick ensures the ceramic disc never runs dry as long as there is water in the reservoir.

  • USB-C Powered: Can be powered by any 5V source, including power banks, making it perfect for portable or remote incubation setups.

  • Vertical Integration: This setup allows the electronics and sensors to remain safely above the water line, reducing the risk of short-circuits.

  • Microporous Atomization: The disc contains thousands of microscopic holes that filter the water as it is turned into mist, ensuring an ultra-fine spray.

  • Modes of Operation:

    • Mode 1: Continuous spray for maximum humidity.

    • Mode 2: 5-second interval spray to maintain humidity without over-saturation.

Technical Specifications

  • Resonant Impedance: < 150 Ohms

  • Static Capacitance: 3000 pF ± 15%

  • Wick Dimensions: 8mm Diameter x 100mm Length (Trimmable)

  • Power: 2 Watts

  • Mist Particle Size: 5μm – 10μm

Installation & Assembly (The Robogears Method)

  1. Soak the Wick: This is the most critical step. Soak the cotton wick in clean water for 5–10 minutes until it is fully saturated.

  2. The Spring Mechanism: Place the small spring at the bottom of your wick-holder tube. This spring ensures the wick is always pressed firmly against the underside of the ceramic disc.

  3. Orientation: The atomising disc has a front and back. The side with the wires (usually white ceramic) must be in direct contact with the top of the wet cotton wick.

  4. Power Up: Connect the USB-C cable. If the LED is on but no mist appears, check that the wick is making firm contact with the centre of the disc.

Note: This kit includes the USB-C Driver Board, the 108kHz Atomising Disc, and 1x Cotton Wick. A 5V power supply is required but not included. Product images are for illustration purposes only.
