Product Description

The NodeMCU V3 is designed to be breadboard-friendly, with all pins broken out to standard 2.54mm headers. It features an onboard voltage regulator that allows it to be powered directly from a USB cable. Unlike standard microcontrollers, the NodeMCU can act as both a WiFi station (connecting to your router) and a WiFi Access Point (creating its own network). This makes it a perfect choice for wireless web servers, smart home switches, and remote environmental monitoring.

  • Breadboard Space: Be aware that the V3 (LoLin) version is slightly wider than the V2 (Amica). When placed on a standard breadboard, it will cover all the holes on both sides. Use two breadboards side-by-side or use Female-to-Male Jumper Wires to connect your pins.

  • Logic Level Alert: The NodeMCU is a 3.3V device. Connecting 5V sensors directly to its GPIO pins can damage the ESP8266 chip. Always use a Logic Level Converter for 5V peripherals.

  • Powering for WiFi: WiFi communication causes brief current spikes. If your board keeps resetting during a WiFi.begin() call, ensure your USB cable is of high quality and your power source can provide at least 500mA.

  • The "Flash" Button: If you encounter errors while uploading code, try holding down the FLASH button, clicking upload in your IDE, and then releasing it when the "Writing" process begins.
