Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • Sensor Mounting: Fix the brass sensor at least 1 inch below the overflow pipe to ensure you have enough time to reach the switch before the tank actually overflows.

  • Wire Recommendation: For long distances (up to 100-200 feet), we recommend using 0.5 sq mm multi-strand copper wire to maintain signal integrity.

  • Scaling Prevention: If you have "Hard Water," clean the brass tips once every 6 months to remove mineral buildup, which can act as an insulator.
