Product Description The Arduino Nano V3.0 is a small, complete, and breadboard-friendly development board based on the ATmega328P. It offers nearly the same functionality as the Arduino Uno but in a significantly smaller footprint, making it the go-to choice for space-constrained projects and permanent installations. This version utilizes the CH340G USB-to-Serial converter for reliable programming via Mini-USB. Unlike the Uno, the Nano provides two additional analog input pins (A6 and A7), offering more flexibility for sensor-heavy applications. Its compact dual-inline package (DIP) design allows it to plug directly into a breadboard or a 30-pin IC socket for seamless prototyping.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • 9V Battery Use: The Nano is ideal for 9V battery use. Connect the battery to the Vin pin (positive) and GND (negative). The onboard regulator will safely convert it to 5V. Avoid using 9V on the 5V pin, as it will bypass the regulator and destroy the ATmega328P.

  • 18650 Cell: For mobile projects, use two 18650 cells in series (7.4V) into the Vin pin. For a single 3.7V cell, use a 5V Step-Up (Boost) Converter and connect the output to the 5V pin.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: If your Nano resets when using a servo motor, add a 100uF Electrolytic Capacitor across the 5V and GND rails. For driving multiple LEDs, use a 74HC595 Shift Register IC to expand your digital output pins while saving Nano I/O.
