Product Description

The 4-Way DIP Switch is a compact array of four independent Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) switches housed in a single Dual In-line Package. This component is essential for the developers at Robogears Pvt Ltd who need to implement hardware-level settings that don't change frequently. With 4 positions, you can create up to 16 different binary combinations ($2^4 = 16$). It is commonly used for setting communication baud rates, I2C addresses, or enabling/disabling specific features on a robotic controller without needing a screen or complex software menu.

Prototyping & Installation Tip (Binary Logic Addressing) To use this with an Arduino or ESP32 at your Pimpri facility, connect one side of all four switches to Ground (GND). Connect the other four pins to four digital input pins on your microcontroller. In your code, enable the internal INPUT_PULLUP for these pins. Now, you have a 4-bit binary input. For example:

  • All OFF = 0000 (Value 0)

  • All ON = 1111 (Value 15) This allows you to assign unique IDs to up to 16 different robots using the exact same firmware.
