Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears
Shaft Preparation: Before installing the adapter, use a fine piece of sandpaper to clean any burrs or oxidation from your motor shaft. This ensures a perfectly centered fit and reduces vibration at high speeds.
Securing the Connection: Always align one of the M4 grub screws with the "D-cut" or flat portion of the motor shaft if available. Use a drop of blue thread-locker (Loctite) on the grub screws to prevent them from loosening due to motor vibration.
Alignment Check: After tightening, spin the motor at a low voltage and observe the tip of the adapter. If you notice a "wobble," loosen the screws, rotate the adapter 90 degrees on the shaft, and re-tighten to find the point of best balance.
Load Placement: When mounting heavy pulleys or chucks, try to keep the load as close to the motor body as possible to minimize the leverage on the motor bearings, which helps extend the life of your motor.

While we strive for accuracy, technical specifications, including exact length and screw type, are subject to change by the manufacturer without prior notice. Please ensure the adapter is securely fastened before operating the motor at high speeds to prevent mechanical failure or injury. Ensure the motor shaft diameter is exactly 3.17mm before purchasing.
