Prototyping & Engineering Tips (Robogears Exclusive)

The "Stand-By" Secret: The 858D is unique because the fan continues to run when you put the handle in the stand until the temperature drops below 100°C. Never switch off the main power until the display shows "---", as this ensures the ceramic heater is properly cooled and won't crack.
Nozzle Selection: Use the narrowest nozzle for small SMD resistors and capacitors (0603/0402) to focus the heat. For large chips like processors, use the wider nozzles to ensure even heat across the entire component surface.
Airflow Logic: When desoldering tiny components at your Pimpri workshop, keep the airflow dial around 3-4. Setting it to maximum (10) might cause small parts to fly away before the solder even melts!
Vertical Approach: For the best results, hold the hot air gun vertically (90 degrees) to the board. Holding it at an angle can unevenly heat the pins and potentially damage the PCB traces.
