Product Description & Technical Details

Product Description The HC-06 4-Pin Bluetooth Slave Module is an industry-standard wireless serial communication solution designed for seamless data transparency between microcontrollers and Bluetooth-enabled devices like smartphones, tablets, or PCs. Operating exclusively in Slave Mode, this module acts as a "wireless serial cable replacement," making it incredibly easy to add remote control and data logging capabilities to your hardware. It features the CSR BC04 Bluetooth chip and an integrated 2.4GHz PCB antenna, ensuring stable performance and easy pairing. Whether you are building an Arduino-based robot or a wireless sensor station, the HC-06 provides a cost-effective and reliable bridge for short-range wireless communication.

Key Highlights

  • Simplified 4-Pin Interface: Features pre-soldered header pins for VCC, GND, TXD, and RXD, allowing for quick integration into breadboards or jumper-wire setups.

  • Transparent Serial Support: Once paired, the wireless connection behaves exactly like a standard wired UART serial port, requiring no complex Bluetooth protocol knowledge.

  • Wide Input Power Range: Equipped with an onboard LDO regulator that accepts 3.6V to 6V, allowing it to be safely powered by most microcontroller boards.

  • Configurable Parameters: Users can easily modify the module name, pairing passcode (default: 1234), and baud rate using simple AT commands when the module is not paired.

  • Status Indication LED: The onboard LED provides clear visual feedback: fast blinking indicates pairing mode, and solid illumination indicates a successful connection.

Installation Tip from Robogears The HC-06 uses 3.3V logic for its RX and TX pins. While many 5V microcontrollers (like Arduino Uno) can communicate with it directly, we highly recommend using a simple resistor voltage divider (e.g., a 1k$\Omega$ and a 2k$\Omega$ resistor) on the Arduino's TX line to step down the signal to 3.3V for the module's RX pin. This protects the sensitive Bluetooth chip from long-term damage and ensures a more stable data connection. Important: Always disconnect the RX/TX pins when uploading code to your Arduino, as they share the same serial bus used for programming.
