Product Description The GP 23A is a high-performance, high-voltage battery designed to provide the necessary "surge" power for small electronic devices. Though similar in appearance to a standard AA battery, it is significantly shorter (about half the height) and packs a powerful 12V output. This battery is the global standard for RF (Radio Frequency) devices, specifically car alarm remotes, home security sensors, garage door openers, and wireless doorbells. GP's advanced alkaline technology ensures that even after months of inactivity, the battery can deliver the high-tension pulse required to transmit a wireless signal over long distances.

  • RF Transmitter Power: Most 433MHz and 315MHz wireless modules achieve their maximum range when powered by 12V. Using a 23A battery allows you to create a handheld remote that fits in a pocket but can trigger a receiver from over 50–100 meters away.

  • The "8-Cell" Secret: A 23A battery actually contains a stack of 8 tiny 1.5V button cells inside its metal jacket. This is how it achieves 12V. Because of this high internal resistance, it is designed for intermittent pulses, not continuous loads like driving motors or bright LEDs.

  • Low Capacity Awareness: With only ~55mAh of capacity, this battery will drain very quickly if used for a continuous light or a microcontroller like an Arduino. It is strictly a "signal battery."

  • Troubleshooting Tip: If your remote control only works when you are very close to the receiver, the 23A battery is likely dipping below 9V. Replace it with a fresh GP cell to restore the original transmission range.
