Product Description

The 0.91" 128x32 OLED is built for simplicity and efficiency. It uses the widely supported SSD1306 controller, which is compatible with almost all microcontroller platforms, including Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi. The long, narrow aspect ratio is specifically optimized for displaying text strings, horizontal progress bars, and small icons. Its 4-pin interface (VCC, GND, SCL, SDA) minimizes wiring complexity, making it ideal for prototypes where GPIO pins are at a premium.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • The "Row Offset" Rule: Because this is a 128x32 display, standard 128x64 code might display text incorrectly. In your library initialization (like Adafruit_SSD1306), ensure you specify the 32-pixel height to correctly map the display memory.

  • I2C Address Check: Most 0.91" modules use the I2C address 0x3C. If the screen remains blank during your first test, run an "I2C Scanner" sketch to confirm the address of your specific hardware.

  • Powering from 3.3V vs 5V: While the module is 5V tolerant, it is native 3.3V hardware. If you are using an ESP32 or Raspberry Pi, connecting to the 3.3V rail is more efficient and reduces stress on the onboard regulator.

  • Fragile Glass Edge: The glass on these displays is extremely thin at the edges. When mounting, ensure the PCB is supported and that the glass does not receive direct mechanical pressure from your enclosure's bezel.
