Unlike a raw reed switch, this module includes an LM393 comparator circuit, providing a clean, de-bounced digital signal and a built-in potentiometer to adjust sensitivity. All Technical Details

  • Pin Definition:

Prototyping & Engineering Tips (Robogears Exclusive)

  • The "Bounce" Rule: At our Pimpri facility, we always suggest using this module over a bare reed switch because the on-board comparator handles "contact bounce." If you were using a bare switch, your code might see one door opening as ten separate events!

  • Polarity & Orientation: Reed switches are sensitive to the orientation of the magnet. If the sensor isn't triggering, try rotating the magnet 90 degrees or flipping it. The magnetic field lines should run parallel to the glass tube for the best response.

  • Fragility Warning: The reed switch is made of glass. Do not bend the leads of the glass component directly; use pliers to hold the lead while bending to prevent cracking the vacuum seal.

  • Interrupt Usage: For security systems, connect the DO pin to an Interrupt pin on your Arduino (like D2 or D3). This ensures your code catches a "door open" event instantly, even if it's busy with other tasks.
