Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears
Soldering Preparation: Before soldering your ESCs to the integrated PCB, lightly scuff the copper pads with a fine-grit sandpaper and use plenty of flux. This ensures a "cold solder joint" doesn't fail due to the vibrations of flight.
Vibration Management: While the glass fiber plates are rigid, the flight controller should still be mounted on anti-vibration foam or standoffs to ensure accurate sensor readings from the gyro and accelerometer.
Bolt Check: Use a small amount of blue thread-locker on the motor mounting screws. The constant vibration of the motors can cause them to loosen over time, even with the brass sleeves.
Weight Distribution: Mount your battery as close to the center of gravity (CoG) as possible. A common setup is to strap the battery to the top plate for better agility or the bottom plate for a lower center of gravity and more stability.
