The 40-Pin Male-to-Male Jumper Set is supplied as a single, wide ribbon cable that can be easily peeled into individual wires or smaller functional groups. This allows you to keep a 4-wire strip together for I2C communication or an 8-wire strip for parallel data buses, significantly reducing "spaghetti wiring." The molded 0.1" pitch pins are designed for a secure friction fit, ensuring reliable electrical contact for sensors, drivers, and development boards.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • Breadboard Discipline: When plugging into a breadboard, push the pin until the plastic housing is nearly flush. Half-inserted pins are the #1 cause of "intermittent" circuit failures.

  • Color Standards: Always use Red for VCC and Black/Brown for GND. This simple habit prevents accidental short circuits that can permanently damage sensitive microcontrollers.

  • Data Bus Alignment: If you are wiring a 16x2 LCD in 4-bit mode, peel off a 6-wire section of the ribbon. Keeping them attached ensures the pin order remains consistent from the Arduino to the display.

  • Internal Fatigue: If a circuit stops working, wiggling the wire. If the signal flickers, the internal copper may be fatigued from too much bending; replace that specific strand from your 40-piece set.
