Product Description The Universal Single-Slot Li-ion Battery Charger is a versatile charging solution for a wide range of 3.7V cylindrical lithium batteries. Featuring a spring-loaded adjustable slider, it can securely hold and charge cells of varying lengths, from the small 16340 to the large 26650. The internal circuitry utilizes an intelligent CC/CV (Constant Current/Constant Voltage) charging profile, ensuring that each cell is charged safely and efficiently to its peak voltage of 4.2V, significantly extending the overall lifespan of your batteries.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • Polarity Check: Always verify the + (Positive) and - (Negative) markings on the charger before inserting the cell. While most units have basic protection, reverse polarity can damage the internal charging IC.

  • Recovery of "Dead" Cells: If a Li-ion battery has dropped below 2.5V, many smart chargers will not detect it (the LED will stay Green). You may need a specialized "recovery" charger to jumpstart such deeply discharged cells.

  • Charging Time Calculation: To estimate the charging time, use the formula:

    $$Time (hours) = \frac{Battery Capacity (mAh)}{Charger Current (mA)} \times 1.2$$

    (The 1.2 factor accounts for the slower CV phase at the end of the cycle.)

  • Heat Dissipation: It is normal for the charger to feel warm during the first 80% of the charge cycle. However, if the battery becomes hot to the touch, disconnect it immediately as the cell may be faulty.
