Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears
9V Battery Use: Do not use a 9V battery. This board is strictly designed for 3.2V or 3.7V cells. Connecting 9V to the battery terminals will instantly burn the control IC and the LED driver.
18650 Cell: This board is perfectly optimized for a single 18650 cell. For longer runtime, you can connect multiple 18650 cells in parallel (1S2P or 1S3P). Ensure all cells are balanced at the same voltage before connecting them.
IC & Capacitor Tip: If the PIR sensor triggers falsely due to wind or pets, add a small 10uF electrolytic capacitor across the PIR power pins (if accessible) or adjust the mounting angle. Ensure the solar panel is not shielded by glass, as this reduces the UV charging efficiency.
Related Products: We recommend pairing this with our 3.7V 2600mAh 18650 Cells, 5V 2W Solar Panels, and COB LED Strips.

Always connect the battery first to initialize the MCU before connecting the solar panel. Ensure the battery polarities are correct, as reverse connection can cause permanent damage to the charging circuit.
