Product Description The 4-Channel Wireless RF Remote Control Transceiver Module is a complete "plug-and-play" solution for wireless switching and remote automation. This kit includes a handheld four-button keychain transmitter and a matching super-regenerative receiver module. Based on the popular PT2262/PT2272 encoding scheme, the system provides four independent digital outputs that correspond to the four buttons on the remote. Unlike raw RF modules, this pair handles all encoding and decoding internally, outputting a clean 5V high signal whenever a button is pressed. It is ideal for wireless garage door openers, remote-controlled robots, home automation lighting, and security alarm triggers.

Technical Details

  • Decoding Architecture: Employs the PT2272-M4 (Momentary) or L4 (Latched) IC, which decodes the encrypted RF pulse stream into digital high/low states.

  • Antenna Requirement: For maximum range, a 17cm wire antenna should be soldered to the "ANT" pad on the receiver module.

  • Pin Configuration: Features 7 pins: VT (Valid Transmission), D0, D1, D2, D3, VCC, and GND.

  • VT (Valid Transmission) Pin: This pin goes HIGH whenever any of the four buttons are pressed, acting as a master interrupt signal.

  • Operating Principle: When a button is pressed on the remote, it sends a 433MHz modulated signal; the receiver picks this up, decodes the address, and sets the corresponding data pin (D0-D3) to HIGH.

  • Modulation Type: Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) ensures reliable transmission through walls and light obstacles.

  • Receiver Sensitivity: Rated at -105dBm, allowing it to pick up weak signals from distances up to 100 meters in open-air conditions.

  • Low Standby Power: The receiver circuit is optimized for low current draw (approx. 4.5mA), making it suitable for long-term monitoring.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • 9V Battery Use: The Transmitter (Remote) already uses a 12V internal battery. For the Receiver, do not connect a 9V battery directly to the VCC pin. Use a 7805 Voltage Regulator to provide a steady 5V, as the receiver IC can be damaged by voltages exceeding 6V.

  • 18650 Cell: A single 18650 cell (3.7V) might not be enough to reach the full sensitivity of the receiver. We recommend using a 5V Boost Converter with your 18650 to ensure the receiver pins output a full 5V logic signal for your Arduino.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: If your receiver is triggering randomly when motors start, add a 100uF Electrolytic Capacitor across the VCC and GND of the receiver module. If you need the signal to "stay on" after you release the button, use a CD4013 Flip-Flop IC to convert the momentary signal into a toggled output.
