The shield includes integrated Auto-Program circuitry, which automatically toggles the GPIO0 and Reset pins to put the ESP32 into "Download Mode" during an upload from the Arduino IDE or Espressif IDF. This removes the need for the tedious "press and hold" button sequences or external "BOOT" jumpers.
