Product Description The 220V AC PIR Infrared Automatic Motion Detection Sensor Switch is an intelligent, energy-saving controller designed for hands-free lighting management. Operating directly on standard AC mains, this compact module uses passive infrared technology to detect the thermal signatures of moving human bodies. Once triggered, it automatically activates the connected load (such as LED bulbs, exhaust fans, or alarm buzzers) and keeps it powered for a pre-set duration before shutting off. Featuring a built-in light sensor (LDR), the switch is optimized to only function in low-light or dark conditions, preventing energy waste during the day. Its small footprint and high-voltage compatibility make it ideal for hallways, bathrooms, warehouses, and security lighting installations.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • 9V Battery Use: DANGER: This module is strictly for 220V AC mains. Do not attempt to power it with a 9V battery; the internal logic requires AC cycles to function and will not operate on DC.

  • 18650 Cell: Similar to the 9V battery, an 18650 cell cannot power this device. For battery-operated motion projects, please use our HC-SR501 DC PIR Sensor instead.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: If your LED light "flickers" when the sensor is OFF, it is usually due to the small leakage current required to power the sensor logic. Add a 0.1uF 275V X2 Safety Capacitor in parallel with the LED load to absorb this leakage.
