Product Description & Technical Details
Product Description
The 12V 1-Channel Relay Module is a robust switching interface designed for applications where a 12V power source is readily available, such as in automotive electronics, solar power systems, and industrial control panels. While 5V relays are standard for USB-powered projects, this 12V version is more efficient for battery-operated or vehicle-based automation. It features an onboard Optocoupler, providing full galvanic isolation between the low-power control signal and the high-power load. This prevents electrical noise and voltage spikes from travelling back to your microcontroller.
Key Highlights
12V Coil Efficiency: Ideal for use with 12V lead-acid batteries, car power systems, or 12V DC power adapters without needing additional voltage buck converters.
Opto-Isolated Input: The control circuit is physically separated from the relay coil power, protecting sensitive GPIO pins on devices like Arduino, ESP32, or PLCs.
High-Capacity Switching: Rated for up to 10A, making it suitable for controlling large DC motors, high-intensity LED bars, solenoid valves, and household appliances.
Status Indicator LEDs: Includes a power LED and a signal status LED that lights up when the relay is activated, simplifying the troubleshooting process.
Dual-Logic Compatibility: The input trigger can often be activated by 3.3V or 5V logic levels, even though the coil itself requires 12V to switch.

Prototyping & Installation Tip:
Unlike 5V modules, you must provide a stable 12V DC supply to the VCC pin to energise the relay coil. Connecting only 5V to the VCC will not be enough to flip the internal switch. When wiring for automotive use, ensure the module is fused to prevent damage from vehicle power surges. Always connect the "Hot" or "Positive" side of your load to the COM (Common) terminal and use the NO (Normally Open) terminal if you want the device to turn ON only when the signal is sent.
Note: This product is the 12V Relay Module ONLY. A 12V power supply and jumper wires are sold separately. Product images are for illustration purposes only.
