Product Description & Technical Details

Product Description

The 5V 1-Channel Relay Module is a fundamental interface component used to control high-voltage or high-current appliances using low-power microcontrollers. It acts as an electrically operated switch, providing complete galvanic isolation between your delicate electronics and the heavy load (like AC motors, lights, or heaters). This module features an onboard Optocoupler, which adds an extra layer of protection by converting the electrical control signal into light, preventing electromagnetic interference (EMI) or back-EMF from damaging your Arduino or ESP32.

Key Highlights

  • Opto-Isolated Input: The inclusion of an optocoupler chip ensures that high-voltage spikes from the relay coil never reach your microcontroller's GPIO pins.

  • Status Indicator LEDs: Equipped with two LEDs—one for power status and another that lights up when the relay coil is energized, allowing for easy visual debugging.

  • Standard Terminal Blocks: Features heavy-duty screw terminals for the "Load" side, ensuring secure connections for thick AC or DC power wires.

  • Versatile Switching: Provides both Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) contacts, allowing for flexible logic (e.g., turning a device ON or OFF when triggered).

  • Compact Design: The small PCB footprint and pre-drilled mounting holes make it easy to secure inside project boxes or electrical panels.

Technical Specifications

Prototyping & Installation Tip

Most 5V relay modules are Active Low, meaning the relay switches "ON" when the IN pin is connected to Ground (LOW) and "OFF" when it receives 5V (HIGH). When wiring the AC side, always connect your live wire to the COM terminal and your appliance to either the NO or NC terminal. Safety Warning: Working with 250V AC is dangerous. Ensure all power is disconnected before wiring the screw terminals and use a properly insulated enclosure for your project.

Note: This product is the 1-Channel Relay Module ONLY. Jumper wires and AC power cables are sold separately. Product images are for illustration purposes only.
