Product Description

The YF-S201 Water Flow Sensor is a reliable and easy-to-use device for measuring the volume and speed of liquid passing through a pipe. It consists of a plastic valve body, a water rotor, and a Hall-effect sensor. As water flows through the sensor, the rotor spins at a speed proportional to the flow rate. The Hall-effect sensor outputs a corresponding pulse signal (square wave) for every revolution. This pulse can be easily read by any microcontroller's interrupt pin. At Robogears, we recommend this sensor for smart irrigation systems, automatic water dispensers, and solar water heater monitoring.

Installation Tip from Robogears

When installing, ensure the arrow on the sensor body matches the direction of the water flow. To calculate the total volume of water used, you need to count the pulses in your code using an Interrupt. Use the formula: Total Liters = (Pulse Count / 450), as the sensor typically produces approximately 450 pulses per liter. Note: This sensor is designed for clean water only; if you are using it with greywater or liquids containing debris, we strongly advise installing a filter upstream to prevent the internal rotor from jamming.
