The 5mm DC Jack Male Connector with Wire is a heavy-duty power pigtail designed to simplify the connection between power supplies and electronic devices. Featuring the industry-standard 5.5mm outer diameter and 2.1mm inner diameter, this male plug is compatible with the vast majority of DC power adapters, CCTV cameras, LED strip controllers, and Arduino boards. The pre-attached multistrand copper wires are tinned at the ends for easy soldering or connection to screw terminals. This connector eliminates the need for manual plug assembly, providing a reliable, low-resistance power interface for both indoor and outdoor electronic installations.

  • Polarity Verification: CRITICAL: While the industry standard is "Center Positive" (Red wire to center pin), some specialized equipment uses "Center Negative." Always use a multimeter in continuity mode to confirm that the Red wire connects to the inner pin and the Black wire to the outer sleeve before powering your circuit.

  • The 2.1mm vs. 2.5mm Trap: This is a 2.1mm inner diameter plug. It will not fit securely into a 2.5mm female socket (it will feel loose and lose connection). Conversely, a 2.5mm plug will not fit into a 2.1mm socket at all. Always measure your female jack before ordering.

  • Handling High Current: If you are running 5A through this pigtail for an LED strip, the wires may become warm. Ensure the wire gauge (typically 20-22 AWG) is sufficient for your specific length to avoid a "Voltage Drop" that could dim your LEDs at the end of the chain.

  • Waterproofing for CCTV: If using this outdoors for a camera, wrap the connection point with Self-Amalgamating Tape or use a waterproof junction box. Water ingress into the DC barrel can cause electrolysis and rapidly corrode the copper wires.

  • Secure Termination: When connecting these leads to a PCB, use a 2-Pin Screw Terminal Block. This allows you to easily replace the power lead in the future without desoldering the board, which is useful for field repairs.
