Secure Mounting: While the fan is a press-fit, high-RPM 555 motors can sometimes cause the fan to slip over time due to vibration. If you find the fan is loose, a tiny drop of Cyanoacrylate (Instant Glue) inside the hub before pressing it onto the shaft will create a permanent bond.
Direction of Airflow: The direction the air blows depends on the motor's rotation. If the fan is pushing air backward instead of pulling it forward, simply swap the positive and negative wires on your DC motor to reverse the rotation.
Safety Enclosure: At 12V, a 555 motor can spin this fan at several thousand RPM. Always design a wire mesh or 3D-printed shroud around the fan to prevent fingers or loose wires from coming into contact with the spinning blades.
Current Draw Impact: Adding a fan creates "aerodynamic load" on the motor. Monitor your motor's temperature; if it becomes too hot to touch, you may need to reduce the input voltage or use a PWM speed controller to lower the RPM.
