Product Description

The Portable Money Counter is designed for "count-only" high-speed processing of most world currencies. It features a simple one-button operation: simply square your stack of bills, place them in the guides, and press "Start." The bright 3-digit LED display provides a clear count even in low-light environments. The machine includes an "Addition" function, which allows you to track the cumulative total across multiple stacks of bills. Constructed from high-impact ABS plastic, it is built to withstand the rigors of daily travel and field use.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

The "Tapping" Technique: To avoid jams, always "tap" your stack of bills on a flat surface to align them perfectly before inserting them into the machine. If the bills are ruffled or folded, the optical sensor might miscount or the rollers might slip.
New vs. Old Bills: New, crisp notes are thinner and smoother than older, circulated notes. If you are counting very old or damp bills, count them in smaller batches (30–50 at a time) to ensure the friction rollers don't grab two notes at once.
Battery Maintenance: If you primarily use the AC adapter, remove the AA batteries. Leaving batteries inside for long periods while using wall power can lead to battery leakage, which can corrode the internal contacts and destroy the motherboard.
Cleaning the Sensors: If the count becomes inaccurate, use a can of compressed air to blow out any paper dust from the internal optical sensors. Dust buildup is the #1 cause of counting errors in portable machines.
