Product Description The CR1220 is one of the smallest 3V lithium coin cells available, specifically engineered for ultra-compact electronic devices. With a tiny 12.5mm diameter and a slim 2mm profile, it is the standard power source for small-scale Real-Time Clock (RTC) modules, miniature laser pointers, car key fobs, and medical devices like digital thermometers.   • RTC Integration: This cell is frequently used on the "Mini" versions of the DS1307 or DS3231 RTC modules. If you are designing a custom PCB to keep time, the CR1220 is the best balance between size and the 35mAh capacity needed to keep a clock running for several years.

  • Handling Advice: Because these cells are so small, they are very sensitive to surface contamination. Avoid touching the flat surfaces with your fingers; the oils can cause micro-corrosion over the years the battery is expected to last. Use plastic tweezers or a clean lint-free cloth.

  • Voltage Checks: When testing a CR1220 with a multimeter, a healthy new cell should read between 3.1V and 3.3V. If the voltage is at exactly 3.0V or below without a load, the cell is nearing the end of its useful life for most electronic memory applications.

  • Battery Holders: Ensure you use a holder specifically rated for 12mm cells. Using a 16mm or 20mm holder will not work, as the tension clips will not reach the smaller diameter of the CR1220.
