Product Description

The 134N3P Module is a highly integrated Power Management IC (PMIC) solution. It features a Micro-USB port for charging the connected lithium battery and a USB Type-A port for discharging power to external devices. The board includes a status LED that indicates the charging state (typically red for charging and green/blue for fully charged). Its internal protection logic prevents the battery from overcharging, over-discharging, and short-circuiting, making it a safe choice for beginner-level power projects.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

Polarity is Permanent: Be extremely careful when connecting your battery to the B+ and B- pads. This module does not have reverse polarity protection; swapping the positive and negative wires will instantly burn the 134N3P chip.
Heatsink for Continuous Use: While rated for 1A, the chip can get quite warm during extended charging or heavy 5V boosting. If you plan to draw 1A continuously, ensure there is adequate airflow or a small thermal pad in your enclosure.
The "Standby" Feature: If your project draws a very low amount of current (less than 50mA), the module might "think" there is no load and shut down the 5V output to save power. For low-power IoT sensors, you may need a TP4056 module paired with a separate boost converter instead.
Battery Capacity: This module works best with battery capacities between 1000mAh and 5000mAh. Larger batteries will work but will take a significantly long time to charge at the 1A rate.
