Operating on the 433MHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) band, this pair uses Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) modulation to transmit digital signals through walls and obstacles. The kit consists of a compact square transmitter and a slightly larger rectangular receiver. It is the go-to choice for DIY remote controls, wireless security systems, home automation, and simple telemetry projects. When paired with an encoder/decoder IC or a library like RadioHead, it allows microcontrollers to exchange data packets reliably without physical wiring.

  • 9V Battery Use: You can power the Transmitter directly with a 9V battery for maximum range (up to 100m in open air). However, always power the Receiver with a stable 5V DC from your Arduino, as it is sensitive to voltage fluctuations.

  • 18650 Cell: A single 18650 (3.7V) will work for the transmitter but with limited range. We recommend using a 5V Boost Converter for the receiver and two 18650s in series (7.4V) for the transmitter to get the best performance.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: To prevent signal jitter, add a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor across the power pins of the receiver. If you find the signal is noisy, use the RadioHead (RH_ASK) library which handles the heavy lifting of signal training and checksums automatically.
