• The "Two-Step" Strip: CRITICAL: Proper cable preparation is the secret to a good signal. Use a coaxial stripper to expose 1/4 inch of the center conductor and 1/4 inch of the braided shield. Ensure no stray strands of the silver braid are touching the center copper wire, as this will create a "dead short" and could damage your receiver or LNB.

• Folding the Shield: Before twisting the connector on, fold the braided shielding back over the outer plastic jacket of the cable. The internal threads of the connector must make solid contact with this braid to provide proper grounding and interference rejection.

• The "Fingertip" Test: When screwing the connector onto the cable, it should feel very tight. If it slides on easily, your cable jacket might be too thin (RG59), and the connection will be mechanically unstable, leading to signal "ghosting" or intermittent loss.

• Weatherproofing: If using this connector outdoors (e.g., at the satellite dish LNB), always apply a weatherboot or wrap the connection in self-amalgamating rubber tape. Screw-on connectors are not naturally waterproof and will corrode quickly if exposed to direct rain.

• Center Conductor Length: Ensure the copper center wire extends about 2mm to 3mm past the edge of the nut. If it is too long, it can bend the internal "fingers" of the female port; if it is too short, you will have a poor connection and high signal loss (attenuation).
