Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

Motor Mounting: While this chassis is compatible with plastic BO motors, for a "Jumbo" build, we recommend using metal-geared DC motors to match the chassis's durability and weight-carrying potential.
Grounding Safety: Since the chassis is metal, ensure your circuit boards are mounted using nylon spacers or standoffs. This prevents accidental short circuits between the board pins and the metal frame.
Caster Choice: For smooth 360-degree turning, mount a ball caster wheel at the front and back centers if you are using a 2-motor drive, or use 4 wheels for a direct-drive tank-style steering system.
Cable Management: Use the pre-drilled side holes for cable ties to keep your wiring neat. Neatly organized wires prevent "signal noise" and make troubleshooting much easier during competition.
