Product Description The 52mm Glass Reed Switch is a high-sensitivity, hermetically sealed magnetic sensor designed for non-contact switching in security and industrial automation systems. This passive component consists of two flexible, ferromagnetic metal reeds enclosed in a protective glass envelope. In the presence of a magnetic field, the reeds are drawn together, completing the circuit. Because the contacts are sealed in an inert gas atmosphere, they are highly resistant to oxidation, corrosion, and sparking. It is the perfect choice for door and window alarm sensors, liquid level floats, and speed detection in environments where mechanical switches would fail due to dust or moisture.

  • 9V Battery Use: This switch is a passive conductor; it can safely handle 9V. However, ensure your load does not exceed 0.5A. If you are using it to trigger a siren or motor from a 9V battery, always use a Relay or Transistor as an interface to prevent burning the delicate reeds.

  • 18650 Cell: A single 18650 cell is excellent for creating a long-term door sensor. Connect the reed switch between a Digital Input pin (with internal Pull-up enabled) and GND. It will consume zero power until the door is opened/closed.

  • IC & Capacitor Tip: When connecting to an Arduino, use a 10k Ohm Pull-up resistor and a small 0.1uF ceramic capacitor in parallel with the switch to "debounce" the signal and prevent false triggers from electromagnetic interference (EMI).
