The BTS7960 43A High-Power Motor Driver is an industrial-grade H-Bridge module designed for driving high-current DC motors with extreme precision and safety. Unlike standard hobbyist drivers, this module utilizes two BTS7960 chips in a "Half-Bridge" configuration to form a complete H-Bridge capable of handling up to 43A of peak current. It is the premier choice for heavy-duty robotics, electric vehicles, and high-torque automation projects. The board features a massive integrated aluminum heatsink to dissipate heat during high-load operations and includes a 74AHC244 isolation chip to shield your sensitive microcontroller (like an Arduino or Raspberry Pi) from the high-voltage noise of the motor circuit.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

The "Shared Ground" Requirement: Ensure the Ground (GND) of your microcontroller is connected to the "GND" pin on the logic side of the BTS7960. Without this shared reference, the PWM signals will not be recognized, and the motor will not spin.
Braking Logic: To achieve "Active Braking," set both R_EN and L_EN to HIGH and provide a 0% duty cycle (or LOW signal) to both RPWM and LPWM. This shorts the motor terminals through the MOSFETs, creating a strong electromagnetic brake.
Wiring Gauge: At 43A, standard jumper wires will melt. Use at least 10AWG or 12AWG high-strand silicone wires for the battery and motor connections. Ensure your screw terminals are tightened firmly to prevent "arcing" under heavy load.
Current Monitoring: Utilize the R_IS and L_IS pins by connecting them to an Analog pin on your Arduino. By monitoring the voltage on these pins, your code can automatically shut down the motor if it detects a physical jam (stall), protecting both the motor and the gearbox.
Reverse Polarity Warning: CRITICAL: This module does not have high-current reverse polarity protection on the B+ and B- terminals. Connecting your battery backward will instantly destroy both BTS7960 ICs. Always double-check your power input before switching on the system.
