  • Set Your Stop-Screw: Before starting a project, use a scrap piece of wire to set the adjustment screw. Tighten it until it cuts only the insulation and stops just before touching the copper. This is critical for preventing "stress points" that can cause wires to break later under vibration.

  • Avoid Steel Wires: Never use this precision stripper on steel wires or springs. High-carbon steel is hard but brittle; cutting steel can chip the V-notch and ruin the tool's ability to strip soft copper cleanly.

  • Clean the Jaws: Periodically wipe the cutting notch with a small brush or cloth. Residual bits of PVC insulation can build up in the notch, leading to inaccurate cuts.

  • Wire Alignment: Always insert the wire perpendicular to the jaws. Stripping at an angle can result in uneven insulation removal and may accidentally "score" the conductor.
