• The "Voltage Headroom" Rule: While rated for 25V, for maximum reliability, it is best practice to use this capacitor on rails no higher than 16V–18V. Operating a capacitor too close to its maximum rated voltage for extended periods can accelerate the "drying out" of the internal electrolyte.

• Polarity Warning: CRITICAL: Electrolytic capacitors are polarized. Always connect the lead marked with the stripe (the shorter lead) to the Ground (GND) or the lower potential side of the circuit. Reverse-biasing a polarized capacitor can lead to overheating, venting, or catastrophic failure.

• Decoupling Strategy: For digital circuits (like near an Arduino or ESP32), pair this 10uF electrolytic capacitor with a 0.1uF Ceramic Capacitor in parallel. The 10uF capacitor handles the bulk energy needs, while the 0.1uF ceramic handles high-frequency noise that the electrolytic cannot "see" due to its higher internal resistance.

• Audio Coupling: In audio projects, a 10uF capacitor is often used in series with the audio signal to "block" DC voltage while allowing the AC audio signal to pass through. Ensure the polarity is oriented toward the side with the higher DC bias.

• ESR and Aging: Over several years, the electrolyte inside these cans will slowly evaporate, increasing the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR). If an old device starts "humming" or behaving erratically, replacing the electrolytic capacitors is often the first step in a successful repair.
