The SANTUS ST-202B Crimping Tool is manufactured from premium S50C carbon steel, which undergoes a specialized black oxide treatment to prevent rust and extend tool life. The precision-ground jaws feature multiple nesting stations, allowing you to work with a wide variety of wire gauges from ultra-fine signal wires (28 AWG) to heavy-duty power lines (10 AWG).   • The "Two-Step" Crimp: For open-barrel terminals (like JST or Molex), place the terminal in the tool first and give it a very light squeeze to hold it in place. Then, insert the stripped wire and complete the crimp. This prevents the terminal from falling out or being misaligned.

  • Avoid Over-Crimping: While you want a tight connection, squeezing too hard can "over-crush" the copper strands, making the joint brittle. A perfect crimp should look like an "M" shape where the terminal wings are folded back into the wire.

  • Stripping Accuracy: Always use the notch that matches your wire gauge. If you use a notch that is too small, you will cut off a few strands of copper, which reduces the current-carrying capacity of your wire and creates a weak point.

  • Maintenance: Periodically apply a single drop of light machine oil to the central pivot screw. This keeps the action smooth and prevents the buildup of friction that can skew the jaw alignment over time.
