Product Description The A Longer Version of 4WD Double-Layer Smart Car Chassis Kit is a versatile and spacious robotic platform designed for complex DIY builds. Featuring an extended double-layer acrylic frame, it provides double the mounting surface area compared to single-layer kits. This allows you to separate your high-power components (like motors and batteries) from sensitive electronics (like microcontrollers and sensors), reducing electrical noise and improving organization.

Technical Details

  • Mechanical Integrity: Uses copper pillars to securely separate the two acrylic layers, providing a rigid and stable frame.

  • Motor Mounting: Includes specialized brackets designed specifically for standard yellow BO (Battery Operated) motors.

  • Speed Encoder Disks: Comes with encoder disks that can be used with speed sensors to track RPM and distance traveled.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • Weight Balance: Place your heaviest component, usually the battery pack, on the lower layer in the center. This lowers the center of gravity and prevents the car from tipping during rapid acceleration.

  • Acrylic Maintenance: The acrylic comes with a protective brown paper film. Be sure to peel this off before assembly to reveal the crystal-clear finish.

  • Component Separation: We recommend mounting the motor driver (L298N) on the bottom layer near the motors and the microcontroller (Arduino) on the top layer to keep the signal wires away from high-current power lines.

  • Screw Tightness: Avoid over-tightening the screws on the acrylic plates, as excessive pressure can cause the material to crack over time. Use small rubber washers if you need extra grip.
