Product Description

The 27mm Piezo Plate is engineered for versatility and high-fidelity vibration sensing. When an alternating voltage is applied, the ceramic element expands and contracts, causing the metal plate to vibrate and produce sound (actuator mode). Conversely, when the plate is physically tapped or vibrated, it generates a measurable voltage (sensor mode). Its ultra-thin profile and lightweight construction allow it to be easily integrated into flat surfaces, musical instrument bodies, or compact alarm housings without adding significant bulk.

Solderability: Features a silver-coated ceramic surface for direct wire attachment (requires careful soldering).
Durability: Resistant to moisture and environmental changes when properly sealed.

Soldering Caution: The silver layer on the white ceramic part is very thin. Use a low-temperature soldering iron and be extremely quick. If you hold the iron for more than 1–2 seconds, the silver coating will peel off, rendering the plate useless.
Voltage Spikes: When used as a knock sensor, a hard tap can generate voltage spikes exceeding 50V. Always use a 1M Ohm resistor in parallel and a 5.1V Zener diode to clamp the output before connecting it to a sensitive microcontroller pin (like Arduino's Analog Input).
Acoustic Coupling: To get the loudest sound out of this plate when using it as a speaker, mount it over a hollow plastic cavity (resonant chamber). A piezo plate vibrating in open air will sound very thin and quiet.
Glue Selection: For instrument pickups, use a thin layer of double-sided tape or a drop of cyanoacrylate (Super Glue). Avoid thick rubbery glues, as they act as a dampener and will kill the high-frequency sensitivity of the sensor.
