Product Description The Model 260 is a classic cylindrical DC motor designed for high-speed rotational applications. Slightly larger and more powerful than the standard 130-size hobby motor, the 260 provides increased torque while maintaining the high RPM required for small fans, motorized toys, and DIY science models. Its rounded body makes it easy to mount in circular enclosures or PVC pipes, making it a favorite for student projects involving water pumps, wind turbines, or high-speed propellers.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • Powering Up: For the best performance, use a 4x AA battery holder (6V). If you notice the motor slowing down significantly under load, ensure your batteries are fresh, as high-speed motors can be current-hungry.

  • Shaft Attachments: When pressing a gear or propeller onto the 2mm shaft, always support the back of the motor against a flat surface. This prevents the back-plate from being pushed out, which would ruin the internal electrical contacts.

  • Polarity & Direction: Swapping the positive and negative wires will instantly reverse the motor's direction. Use a DPDT slide switch if you want to create a "Forward-Reverse" control for a small toy car.

  • Heat Management: High-speed motors generate heat during continuous use. If the casing becomes too hot to touch, allow it to cool down or add a small 24mm heatsink to prolong the life of the internal windings.
