This module allows your microcontrollers (like Arduino, ESP32, or STM32) to send and receive SMS, make voice calls, and connect to the internet via GPRS. Its ultra-compact form factor is specifically designed for space-constrained applications such as GPS trackers, remote weather stations, and cellular-controlled robots. The board comes with a spring antenna and features a standard TTL serial interface for easy integration.

Prototyping & Installation Tip (The Power Secret)

Crucial Power Requirement: The most common reason for SIM800L failure at the prototyping stage is insufficient power.

Voltage Range: The module strictly requires 3.7V to 4.2V. Supplying 5V directly from an Arduino will likely damage the module.
Current Spikes: During network handshake, the module draws up to 2 Amperes. A standard USB port or small 9V battery cannot provide this, causing the module to reboot.
The Robogears Solution: Use a high-quality 3.7V Li-ion battery (like an 18650) or an LM2596 Buck Converter set to 4.0V to power the VCC pin independently.

Logic Level Warning: If using a 5V Arduino, use a simple voltage divider (1kΩ and 2kΩ resistors) on the Arduino's TX line to drop the signal to 3.3V before it reaches the SIM800L RX pin to prevent long-term damage.
