Prototyping & Engineering Tips (Robogears Exclusive)

Efficient Bridging: To create "traces" on a single-sided board, use the excess leads of resistors or capacitors to bridge adjacent pads. This creates a much cleaner circuit than using thick solder blobs.
Component Placement: Insert all components from the non-copper (plain) side and solder them on the copper side. This prevents the heat of the soldering iron from potentially lifting the components off the board.
Trimming to Fit: If your Pimpri facility requires a custom shape, phenolic boards are easier to cut than FR4. You can use a standard pair of heavy-duty snips or a hacksaw to trim the board to any specific dimension.
