  • Splitter vs. Switcher: IMPORTANT: This is a Splitter (1 Input to 2 Outputs). If you want to connect two laptops to a single TV and toggle between them, you need an HDMI Switcher. This device is strictly for mirroring the same screen onto two displays.

  • The "Lowest Resolution" Rule: If you connect a 1080p monitor and a 720p monitor to the splitter, the device will often default both outputs to 720p to ensure compatibility. For the best experience, use two monitors with the same native resolution.

  • Powering the Unit: While some HDMI sources provide enough "bus power" to run the splitter, we always recommend connecting the provided 5V power cable. Insufficient power can lead to intermittent "black screens" or a failure to negotiate the HDCP handshake with your TV.

  • EDID Management: This splitter automatically handles EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) communication between the source and the screens. If you experience no sound on one TV, try turning on that TV first before powering on the HDMI source (Laptop/STB).

  • High-Speed Cables: To achieve a stable 1080p 60Hz signal, ensure you are using HDMI 1.4 or higher rated cables. Cheap, unshielded cables can pick up electromagnetic interference (EMI) which causes "sparkles" or digital artifacts on the screen.
